We had a very special winner of the trip for two to Las Vegas last Thursday night for our Ultimate Ladies Night in Vegas grand prize night and we loved the story so much we wanted to share it with you!

The winner of the trip was Lori Lucas who had an awesome story to share with us.  Eight years ago on December 22 Lori and Vince Lucas got engaged at The Palomino Club!  It was Lori’s birthday celebration and Hawg Wild (one of her favorite bands) was live on stage that night.  Vince had them sing happy birthday to Lori then the band called them up on stage announcing that Vince had something he wanted to say to  her.

Lori said she had an idea what was going on and was very nervous.  She did make her way to the stage and sure enough – Vince got down on one knee and proposed right there in front of a packed bar!  She said yes!

Vince, a regular at The Palomino Club for over twenty years, thought this proposal to Lori (a regular for over 12 years) out thoroughly – even hiring a photographer to make little cards out of the photos and getting all the staff sign them.

Lori and Vince (now married) got right on with life in the restaurant business.  Lori’s Dad is the co-founder of Chicken Chef.  Lori and Vince  own the Chicken Chef on Portage Avenue where they have the pleasure of serving some Palomino Club clientele.

As a result of their busy life raising three children and running a restaurant, Lori and Vince never had time for a honeymoon.  When Cary Paul (Managing Partner of The Palomino Club) heard the story of these Palomino Love Birds he decided the planned 3 day / 2 night trip to Las Vegas just wasn’t enough for a honeymoon for these two so Cary has extended the trip to an entire week of Honeymoon Bliss in Las Vegas!

Lori and Vince plan to take the trip in either May or September.

Booty Shake Mondays

The $5000 Booty Shake Red Bull Tournament of Champions wrapped up on January 30 with Jade winning first place & $3,500.00 and Amanda in second with $1,500.00!  But don’t worry!  The World Famous Booty Shake continues every Monday night at The Pal with one winner taking home $200 each week!

Former WWE Superstar Val Venis To Appear at World Famous Palomino Club on Friday January 27!

Last week we had a surprise appearance by WWE superstars The Miz and hometown hero Chris Jericho.  The trend continues as this Friday night yet another WWE megastar will be in attendance when former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion Val Venis will be in the house as part of the official CWE 3 Year Anniversary show after party!

Val Venis, the Canadian born superstar,

broke into world wide fame in the late 90′s with one of the most memorable professional wrestling persona’s of all time. The infamous “Hello Ladies!” catch phrase is still mimicked to this day.   Val Venis has had over a ten year run with World Wrestling Entertainment “The Big Valbowski” – Val Venis has a wide variety of championship belts in his collection and has wrestled the likes of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, The Rock, & The Undertaker in big time matches over the years.

Before Val Venis heads down to the Palomino Club he will be doing what he does best and that is getting in the ring for some action as a part of Canadian Wrestling’s Elite huge 3 Year Anniversary show at the Polish Hall located on 768 Mountain Ave. at 7:30pm. the Can-EH-dian Rockers MAKE A WISH Charity Concert Event in support of The Children`s Wish Foundation and sponsored by Canadian Club and MGD - will be presented at The Palomino Club on Wednesday, February 22!  Doors open at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $30 and available in advance at The Palomino Club General Store as of tonight.  If you’re planning to attend – you better get your tickets ASAP because they’re already 70% SOLD OUT!

This awesome concert night is organized by Palomino Club bartenders Scotty & Lisa Townsend.  This year they chose to work with The Children’s Wish Foundation in the hopes of making two children’s wishes come true.  Way to go Scotty & Lisa!

All-Star Line-Up!

They have brought in some of Canada`s best musicians to help with the cause!  We are thrilled to announce  JUSTICE BEAVER which consists of Brent Fitz (Vince Neil / Slash), Todd Kerns (Age of Electric / Slash), Ken `Spider`Sinnaeve (Loverboy / Streetheart) and John Angus MacDonald (The Trews) Featuring special guest Kenny Shields (Streetheart).

This concert event will also feature the original line-up of SPECULA BLACK with Lead Singer, Scott “Ham” Botham, Aleks Paunovic on Bass, Tony Brenda – Guitar, George Lazic on drums and Rob Bjornson on guitar.

The Children’s Wish Foundation

Established in 1984, The Children’s Wish Foundation is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favourite wish for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception, The Children’s Wish Foundation has granted more than 17,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 1000 wishes annually — granting nearly three wishes everyday — each being an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of that particular child. The Children`s Wish Foundation has never refused a wish to an eligible child.

All The Kings Men

have been thrilling Sunday night pub crawlers with their  powerhouse sets at the King’s Head Pub in Winnipeg for years. Their exciting forays into rock, blues and R&B make Sunday Night at the Head the place to be.  “All The Kings Men possess a true group sound  and approach”  feeding off each other’s musical statements.  There’s no one individual  star, but everyone contributing to the energy of the band.

Leonard Shaw (keys, sax, flute & vocals)

Leonard tours with The Guess Who since 1990; as well as crusading with Ian Hunter , Ian Thomas, Dianne Heatherington  & Terry Crawford, but he started playing jazz-edged R&B with Mojo and The Nighthawks, blues with Blues For A Living, and continues to work in a jazz-vein today with the Leonard Shaw Trio, as well as playing in  bands around town including the Ministers of Cool.

Ken (Spider) Sinnaeve

Two time Juno Award winner Ken (Spider) Sinnaeve  (bass & vocals) has waged many successful campaigns, with the recently named Hall-of- Famers – Streetheart, Loverboy, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell, The Guess Who and recorded with Doc Walker.

David Caissy (guitar & vocals)

David is A seasoned musician, playing guitar, singing and song writing since he was 14 years old. Originally from Montreal PQ, David left on tour with the original rock band Pushy Pushy In 2000, David moved to Winnipeg Manitoba. David was also the lead guitarist for the most requested cover band in town, Juke Box Heroes. He has also recorded and toured with the original pop rock band The Council as well as blues musician from Chicago, Sam Cockrell.

Curtis Nowosad (drums)

A relative newcomer on the Winnipeg music scene , and a recent graduate from the University of Manitoba music program is drummer Curtis Nowosad. Adept at all styles of music Curtis gets to rock out with All The Kings Men.

Curtis Nowosad has quickly become a first-call drummer in the city of Winnipeg.  At twenty-three, he has already performed with some of New York’s finest jazz musicians, as well as many of the mainstays of Winnipeg’s music scene.  He plays regularly with Steve Kirby and hosts Winnipeg’s longest-running jam session, the “Wednesday Night Hang” at the Orbit Room; he also recently took over drumming duties in All The King’s Men, who have been playing every Sunday at the King’s Head Pub for eleven years.  In addition to having opened for such artists as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra, Curtis has performed across Canada and can be heard on several recordings, such as Keith Price’s “Breakfast of Champions“, Marco Castillo’s “Brazilian Season“, and Michael Peters’ “Etherised“.  Curtis is also active as a composer, arranger, private teacher, clinician, and journalist. He plays EPEK drums

We’d like to start this new year by THANKING you for being an awesome customer!  2011 has been a great year for The Palomino Club.  One of our biggest changes has been our online presence with thousands of new fans on our Official Facebook Page, over a thousand followers on Twitter , a company profile on LinkedIn and a new YouTube account where we post videos on a weekly basis.  We’re even on Google+!.  It would be great if you joined us on all our Social Media!

The Highlight of January Events at The Pal will no doubt be the $5000 Booty Shake Finals on Monday, January 30!  

The $5000 Red Bull Tournament of Champions is a favourite of January events and it’s well under way with some some pretty stiff competition!  Every Monday night the best of the Booty Shakers make their way to The Palomino Club stage and shake what their momma gave them in an effort to win the $200 weekly prize and qualify for the $5000 Grand Prize!  First place in the Red Bull Tournament of Champions wins $3,500 while second place takes home $1,500!   We try to capture the action and post the photos to our Facebook and Google+ pages as well as the photo gallery on our website – but not all photos make it to publishing because they’re just too racy!  The best way to catch the action is to be there live in person every Monday!  Mark your calendars!  The FINALS are on Monday, January 30!

Suzanne Mariani, Thursday, January 26:

A self-taught Canadian Artist who developed a passion for singing suddenly discovered her talents, took her to the Winnipeg Arena on stage with Celine Dion in 1996.  In 1999 Suzanne performed for over 3000 people in Las Vegas and was more than ready to perform for the Pan American Games in Winnipeg the same year. Victor Davies, songwriter for the Pan Am Games said “Aretha Franklin showed up” when he heard Suzanne audition.  Read more about Suzanne Mariani

Volunteers provide patrons a safe ride home in their own vehicle. Donations are accepted and all proceeds go to support community and sports programs in Manitoba.
